Little Sister

One thing that has been obvious since Camille joined our family, is that she can basically do no wrong in her big brothers and sister's eyes. Even when she pulls every last piece of clothing from some one's drawers, colors on homework, rips pages from a special book or loses a favorite toy, they are so forgiving with her. Now if it was any one of the older three who did these things, there would be an instant wrestling match, shouting, tattling, which seem like more typical reactions.

It has been heart warming to watch each of our older ones bond so deeply with their baby sister. I think a lot of it has to do with her being quite a bit younger than the rest of them. They compete to get ready fast on school mornings so that they might be the one who gets to go and get her from the crib when she wakes. Christian and Gabrielle carry her to her booster seat, fix her cereal and assist with baths. Griffen helps gather and put on her raincoat and boots and then together they go out back to play.

What my kids do out of love for their sister is way beyond what is asked of them. They have seemingly endless compassion for her. It would be wonderful if one day, they were all as patient with one other as they are with Camille, but in the meantime, I am thankful for this love they show for our little one each and every day.
