Cookie Camille

I came across this picture that one of our older kids snapped recently of Camille and thought that it showcased her kind, sweet spirit so well.  She smiles often, both with her mouth and with those joyful, expressive eyes.  One of the most endearing qualities about her nature, has to be that she is always looking on the bright side of things.  She's a "glass is half-full" personality, someone who is inspiring and fun to be around.  She has a silly side, but in general I would describe Camille as an old soul.  She has a maturity about her that sometimes exceeds that of those 2 and 3 times her age,  including her siblings.  All of this, in a petite, 4 year old package.  I am excited to see what God has planned for her life.

Cookie Camille is a nickname that our daughter came up with for herself a while back.  As happens regularly in our house, the name evolved into something else and now her daddy calls her "Cooker" at home 90% of the time.

In a few weeks, Camille will visit an eye doctor here to see where we go next with regards to her baby blues.  In the above pic, they look great.  That's rare. In most photos, including her very first school pictures, the crossed eye/s are very obvious.  After 10 months of treatment, she stumped her previous optometrist with her tricky eyes.  One day they appear relatively straight and the next, the left eye especially, is wandering all over the place.  After 5 months of patching and 8 months of glasses at a pretty decent prescription, it was decided that the status quo was not improving the turn. We tried doubling the prescription, taking her to her maximum allowable level.  The coke bottles were not a hit with Camille.  She said she couldn't see from the minute she put them on, started tilting her head to avoid looking through the lenses and when friends reported that they had seen her walk into walls/doors (with glasses on), well that was the last straw.  The glasses came off and we're starting back at square 1.    

When we found out about our move, we decided to rest her eyes until we researched who to bring her to over here.  I will write about what we learn at our upcoming appointment, when the time comes.

Lazy eye or not, she is one adorable girl!
